
The Brazilian has been handed a work permit, allowing him to complete a move to Chelsea, but Clarke refused to discuss the issue in detail.
"I can tell you that Alex is in the country and undergoing a medical, but I would like not to speak about him," said the Chelsea assistant coach.
"I would like to speak about those who are Chelsea players, and at the moment, Alex is not."
Chelsea will not have to pay PSV Eindhoven any money in order to sign the defender, as they were the ones who brought him to Europe from Brazil two years ago, before sending him out to the Netherlands due to problems with a work permit.
