After seeing an uneventful goalless draw played out in front of him, Petr Cech reviewed the 90 minutes against Olympiacos with some frustration.

Having had the lion's share of the ball, we were unable to turn possession into goals in the Georgios Karaiskakis stadium, meaning we will need to win at Stamford Bridge in a fortnight if we are to progress to the last eight of the Champions League.

By keeping a clean sheet, the Chelsea backline has now gone 531 minutes in European football without being breached, but it was the failure of his own side to score that Cech focused on.

'I think we passed the ball well, we had enormous possession of the ball, especially in the second half but they were always behind the ball and we didn't manage to go through,' explained the goalkeeper.

'We didn't create enough chances to score goals and I think today was a special game because they started defending as a team and it was enough for them to keep the game nil nil.

'We didn't get through but I'm sure if we scored one goal it would have been completely different and we could have scored more,' he added.

Upon emerging from the tunnel to commence his warm up, Cech and his colleagues Carlo Cudicini and Hilario were greeted by a devoted, loud and intimidating Olympiacos support, but he rejected suggestions that the electric atmosphere was off putting.

'I liked the atmosphere, I like the stadium singing all game and it makes the game better. You enjoy playing in these games, and the atmosphere makes the football better so I enjoyed it,' he confirmed.

With a squad nearing full fitness, Chelsea will be strong favourites in the second leg of the tie, and Cech maintained that the feeling in the camp was positive as we look ahead to the business end of the season.

'I think it's a really big boost to everyone because we have a full squad and in a lot of games can change the players, and we have a lot of quality,' he said.

'It's good to know, the most important time starts now, in the Champions League, the cups and the league, so it's good to know everyone is fit and ready to play. For me this is a big advantage for us and I hope we can use it,' he finished.
