Makelele: Blues Must Win

Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele believes the Blues must win away against Valencia on Wednesday after their faltering UEFA Champions League start.

The Blues could only draw their first game against Norwegians Rosenborg at Stamford Bridge two weeks ago, in a match they were expected to win easily.

This draw has led to pressure to pick up Champions League points, starting with their visit to Valencia, which will be televised live on Sky Sports Extra, with a 7.45pm kick-off.

Looking forward to the game, French midfielder Makelele was quoted in Marca as saying: "We have to win points in games away from home.

"It will not be easy to qualify from this group after we drew the first game.

"After what has happened in the last few games and with everything that is happening at Chelsea we have to win this one."
Victory

Last season, Chelsea knocked Valencia out of the Champions League after snatching a late victory, but Makelele believes that result is no guide to present form.

"It is a new season and both Valencia and Chelsea have changed, therefore we have to forget about last year," he said.
