BLUE REVOLUTION ON SALE FROM YESTERDAY

Blue Revolution, the film that has followed Chelsea FC for the last three years, is released today on DVD.

The 'soccumentary' covers Chelsea's success, including the six trophies that we have won since 2004 including candid interviews with Peter Kenyon, José Mourinho and players as well as a select group of fans.

The film was directed by Bob Potts, a man who's behind a number of other sports documentaries including a film based on the baseball, the Boston Red Sox, which played in 85 cinemas across the USA.

'I think it's a fun film, I think it offers a look at the club that the fans haven't seen before,' said Potts.

A former college 'soccer' player himself, Potts was originally only going to make the film over a two year period. However, with everything that was planned for Chelsea FC over the 2006-07 season, he felt it warranted the filming to carry on.

It was a good job too, as it was this season that saw Chelsea contending for four trophies into the closing months of the campaign, before finishing with the Carling Cup and the FA Cup.

Not only does Blue Revolution gracefully cover all the Blues success since 2004, it also offers a glimpse inside the club and the glamorous world of football.

One clip sees John Terry introducing the American film team to a game of darts.

'Our film hasn't been about reporting the game-to-game facts,' explained Potts.

'Darts is not a big sport in the US, nor is billiards or pool, but John Terry took on many a player and we were there a couple of times for that.'

'It's got access to José, access to certain players, but I think the fun spin is how we incorporate five or six fans and we see them in their daily life, in the life of a Chelsea fan and how it's such a big part of their life,' said Potts.

One of the fans who was filmed is Tony Millard, who runs a bar in Surrey for Chelsea fans and was born and bred on Fernshaw Road, a quarter of a mile from Stamford Bridge.

'I've supported Chelsea all my life, since I was old enough to walk,' said Millard. 'My first major memory was winning the League Cup in 1965 when Eddie McCreadie played centre forward, we beat Leicester 3-2.'

Millard, who owns four season tickets, has let his love for Chelsea rub off onto his family.

'I've got two children, they're big Chelsea fans, my daughter's called Chelsea, she's Chelsea mad, her bedroom's full of posters of Lampard, Terry, you know, normal girl things.

'My son goes every week, a season ticket holder; my eldest daughter isn't much of a football fan but follows Chelsea because of her dad.'

Another prominent fan in the film is John Anderson who grew up only a stone's throw from Stamford Bridge in Battersea and has owned a season ticket since 1970.

One part of the film shows Anderson, who is treasurer of the Woking Independent Supporters Club, paying his respects to Peter Osgood at Stamford Bridge a few days after the legend's death.

Anderson knew Osgood on a personal level and even had the pleasure of his company at his daughter's wedding, which also took place at Stamford Bridge.

The fans featured were all present at the Broadway premiere (that's Fulham Broadway!), last Wednesday evening.

Also in attendance were the team and the evening became José Mourinho's last official event as Chelsea manager.

The Blue Revolution DVD is available from the Megastore at Stamford Bridge and is also available to order online, priced £19.99.
